New video, “Modern,” directed by and starring Jon Beasley and Isabelle Albuquerque of Osk Studio, with cinematography by Sundance award winner Bradford Young and an original score by Hecuba
Modern traces the journey of an enraptured man and woman from the pastoral, ascetic existence of rural life to the apex of urbanity and back again. They travel through space and time, moving through the ages from a simpler, traditional America to the proliferation of the city, and the eruption of the urban metropolis that is New York. Through their charmed eyes, the city is monumental and glorious; its momentum and power impossible to ignore.
Cinematography, Bradford Young. Styling, Natasha Royt. Original score, Hecuba.

Womens FW12 Collection: Debut
She begins in 1930s Paris. Trousers, elegant waistlines into sweeping curves, turned down with masculine tweeds and leather boots. Grabbing her floor length white coat on the way out the door, she tucks her hair under a clever hat and begins her journey through time, collecting ancient Tuareg amulets in the desert tostring around her neck and learning how to dye her own clothes with pomegranates and ink.
For the garments; Alpaca silk handknits, organic dyed denim, herringbone, wools, and cupro. Accessories in copper & brass with leather baseball caps, bags, and felt hats
Tofer Chin, friend and contributor of Thvm Rag, has just opened his first solo exhibition at the Lu Magnus Art Laboratory and Salon in New York. Running until March 25, these brilliant installations and sculptural accomplishments penetrate the consciousness with eye popping color, form and perspective:
In this audacious New York debut solo exhibition, Tofer Chin’s new body of work of geometric paintings, photographic wall wrap and sculpture utilizes color palette reflecting the brash attitude of the 80’s and early 90’s skater culture. Black, white, neon resonate throughout the exhibition. The geometric construction of the paintings is based on mathematical calculations with the titles based on the sum of its constituent parts: number, color and form

ARTIST SERIES
A curated group of artist were selected from various fields of discipline
and enlisted to develop washes that were outside the denim industry
standards and treatments. Each artist produced a special hand made wash in
our Los Angeles atelier from natural ingredients and materials on Orta
Anadolu’s impeccable fabrics. The arts then collaborated with Jean Genie
Studios, Inc. to recreate the works of art into wearable pieces. The
process of selecting artists to execute denim washes results in an
inspiring and innovative approach to denim finishing.

In memory of a legendary photographer and a dear friend
“An Artist and advocate, Shawn Mortensen creates a vast range of images that evoke sensation, and something startling, the result.”
In addition to photographing breaking and established figures, Mortensen has documented his global travels in provocative photo-essay, from rare access in Chiapas, Mexico ( where he captured the uprising of Zpatistas), Mongolia, Jamaica and Havana to name a few. In order to spread the AIDS awareness, he journeyed from Durban, outh Africa, to Lagos, Nigeria, where he collaborated with REDHOT Organization on critically acclaimed benefit recording project and documentary REDHOT+RIOT.
Shawn has always been the first one to see it, hear it, feel it, and capture it. The life glow in his heart would radiate people around him, and still today the life energy of Shawn is within us, bringing the true joy of life.

Edward James (1907-84), eccentric and heir to an English Railroad tycoon, inherited a large wealth allowing him to become the biggest supporter of Surrealist Art. At one point, James owned the largest collection of Surrealist Art ever to be in private possession. Following the turmoil of WW II, James escaped to Southwest United States and eventually on to Mexico. After, a serendipidous meeting with Plutarco Gaetelum a worker in the village of Cuernavaca, James was taken to Xilitla a small town in the rainforest of Sierra Madre Occidental. Here, with the help of Plutarco and many Xilitlan locals, Las Pozas (The Pools) was built.
